Dear Fellow BSBCCA Members,

The following summary of the July 11, 2007 Board Meeting was approved at the Board meeting of August 15,  2007

1. Several members addressed the Board during the public comment portion.  Mary Beth Holland raised concerns about the beach raking and inquired concerning the installation of the second foot shower in the Horse Shoe.  She also raised concerns about having too many staffers at the gate during the week.

Joe Herbold asked if the Board would be willing to post the meeting agenda on the web site prior to the meeting.

Louise Healy commented on several matters.  She complimented the Logo Loft and the Beacon and thought the beach sand was cleaner than it had been in the past.  She thought that we needed more trash barrels on the beach.  She inquired about an unregistered golf cart that has been seen in the parking lot and also commented that she thought we should have Police Officers removing trespassers instead of our own Security Staff.  She registered a complaint about the way the plumber disconnects the ice make in her refrigerator every year and asked the Board to attempt to make a note not to have the plumber drain her Unit next season.  She also had some complaints about her experience in the restaurant on the previous Saturday evening.  Most of her complaints related to what she perceived as poor service and inexperience of the staff.  After speaking for 20 minutes, she opined that individual member comments at a Board Meeting should be limited to 5 minutes each.

Doris Baris, Chair of the Bonnet Shores Land Trust, addressed the Board about the problem of the stagnant water sitting on Kelly Beach which results from the overflow of the pond.  She also had some concerns about the sand that was left on Bonnet Point Road when the town cleared the roads after the storm in April.  She wanted to speak to the town about putting that sand back on Kelly Beach and just wanted to make the Board aware of her intentions.

  2. There has been an issue of a member driving an unregistered golf cart and coming into the Beach Club.  Evidently, although it is not a legally registered vehicle, the Police allow it to be driven on the roads in the Fire District.  Joe Mignano was inquiring of the Board whether or not we wished him to continue to enforce our rule not allowing unregistered vehicles in the parking lot, and the Board responded that the rule should be enforced as written.  In that same vane, the Board also wishes to continue to enforce the rule prohibiting skate boarding in the parking lot.

3. A Board Member raised the issue of Guest Pass fees on Sundays in August.  A proposal was made to increase the fees on Sundays in August to the same amount charged on Sundays in July.  A lengthy discussion ensued, and the Board decided not to change any rules for the current season, but to look at the issue again during the winter months after all guest numbers are tallied for the season.

4.The General Manager informed the Board that ongoing construction inside Units during the season was sometimes becoming a problem because on some weekdays there were several contractors on the premises doing construction and blocking common area deck as they set up their equipment.  He asked the Board to consider a rule change so that members would have to inform the Club before doing any improvements to their Units.  The Board agreed and the rule was changed accordingly.

5. August movie night was set for Saturday, August 11th and the Sand Castle Contest was set for Sunday, August 12th.

6. An issue was raised about a private wedding reception that was held in the Pit on a recent Sunday afternoon.  Evidently, when the reception was originally planned, it involved 5 people and was not thought to be disruptive of members.  It eventually grew much larger at a point when it was too late to cancel.  The Board’s feeling is that in the future the only way to avoid this situation is to not make an exception for anyone no matter how small they indicate the party will be.

7. We are still in the process of negotiating with insurance carriers over storm damage.  The Club has submitted a list of all damage and carriers are now asking for documentation concerning salvage value for some of the damage claimed to equipment.  It is possible that before the end of the year, the Board may have to assess owners to help pay for some of the storm damage repairs not otherwise covered by insurance.

8. The Manager gave his report.  He informed the Board that there have been a lot of plumbing issues this season probably because of the storm damage.  We are using a new plumber for spot repairs when necessary and he appears to be very responsive.  The main deck in the area of the Snack Bar is becoming increasingly soiled and we are looking into having it professionally power washed.  We are also considering the possibility of power washing the awnings before they are removed and stored at the end of the season.  The Bath House Door Replacement Program has been temporarily suspended.  It appears that the door we chose is not surviving well in our beach front environment.  We will reinstitute the program once we have chosen another door.

Respectfully submitted,
BSBCCA Board of Directors
