Dear Fellow BSBCCA Members,

The following summary of the January 242007 Board Meeting was approved at the Board meeting of April 11,  2007

1.   Discussion of release of employee records.  Our attorney at Edwards & Angell submitted a recommendation regarding the release of employee payroll information to unit owners which specifically states that social security numbers and health insurance information must be deleted.  Moreover, employees past and present would have to be advised that their records are being reviewed in order to allow them ample time to consult with their own attorneys.   Vice President John Coletti has incorporated the wording from our attorney’s recommendation into the creation of a policy statement.  (This statement was actually released and discussed at the December Budget Meeting; however, this was the first time that it was officially presented to the Board and entered into the recorded minutes.)

2.   Discussion of open fires on the beach.  Although the Board voted previously to eliminate such fires, a suggestion was made to substitute “kettles” that the BSBC could purchase and then rent to the members on a first come, first served basis.  Discussion included issues such as rental fee, delivery to the beach, recovery from the beach, and disposal of ashes.  No decision was reached.

3.   Discussion of rule changes.  The Board approved several rule changes.  The changes will be highlighted in the first issue of the Bonnet Beacon which will be mailed to the unit owners with the Annual Meeting packet of information.

4.   Discussion of shingles.  A suggestion was made that we should consider a long range plan regarding the shingles of the building.  The Board discussed red cedar shingles as a viable option.  This would probably be a ten year project.  The Board would like a written opinion from our engineer regarding the added weight to the building in view of the fact that the cedar shingles would be installed over the existing shingles.

       Respectfully submitted,
Louise B. Healy, BSBCCA Secretary
