Dear Fellow BSBCCA Members,

The following summary of the February 282007 Board Meeting was approved at the Board meeting of April 11,  2007

1.   The RI Supreme Court denied the developer’s appeal of the permit which DEM issued back in 2004 for the construction of our new I SDS .  (It should be noted that this was a suit which the developer filed against DEM, not against us.)  Accordingly, our next step is to pursue the CRMC permit for same.

2.   The developer still has another suit pending.  This is a relatively new suit which he filed in the waning days of 2006 in which he maintains that we excluded him from the ISDS plan.

3.   A new, private suit has been filed against us by Federal Magistrate Robert Lovegreen who is a resident of the Bonnet Terrace.  This suit was filed in Federal District Court .  He claims that in view of the fact that he has walked along our beach and has set up his beach chairs on the west end of what is essentially our property that he has a legal right to use our property in the future.

4.   The Narragansett Fire Dept is requiring that we update our fire alarm system and is ordering that we update the connections is all of the heat sensing boxes.  This would be a $30,000 un-budgeted expense.

5.   Structural work is well under way at the facility: the staircase next to the tennis courts was replaced: the staircase going from the main deck to the beach at the extreme east end of the main deck was replaced; leak mitigation is continuing; in the bathhouse area east of the pool, 20 posts have been replaced and an additional 20 posts were added in new locations (all to the underbelly of the facility); the major project in the square has begun --- the demolition work has all been done and about one third of the framing has already been completed.

6.   Carol Moio has developed a proposed entertainment schedule for the 2007 season.  Entertainment will be offered on five Saturday nights --- July 7 and 21 and August 4, 18, and 25.  Entertainment will also be offered on July 4th and on Sunday afternoons.

       Respectfully submitted,
Louise B. Healy, BSBCCA Secretary
